it is very gratifying to see so many people talking sense in response to that horrible article. However, the article isn’t the problem: as awful as it is, that dude’s viewpoint reflects the sink-or-swim reality of grad school, as I experienced it. I think a more interesting question is, what would it take to change the system to bring accountability for awful mentorship?
